Applications of Metabolomics Technology in Clinical Medicine

Metabolomics is a newly developed subject following genomics and proteomics. It analyzes the relationship between metabolites and physiological as well as pathological changes in humans through accurate qualitative and quantitative quantification of small molecule metabolites (50~1,500 Da) in human body , in order to study the occurrence and development of diseases, find biomarkers of diseases, and to predict the prognosis of diseases. Metabolomics has broad prospects in clinical diagnosis.
