Top 10 Companies that Provide Proteomics Related Solutions (Part I)

The concept of Proteome was first proposed by Marc Wilkins, referring to all proteins expressed by a genome, or a cell or tissue. There are differences between the concept of a proteome and the concept of a genome, which varies with the organization and even the state of the environment. At the time of transcription, a gene can be spliced in multiple mRNA forms. A proteome is not a direct product of a genome, and the number of proteins in a proteome can sometimes exceed the number of genomes. Proteomics is in an early "developmental" state, and experts in this field deny that it is a simple methodology, just like genomics, not a closed, conceptually stable system of knowledge, but an area.   The main significance of proteomics research is still studying the phenomenon of life and promoting human health.   Protein is the executor of physiological function and the direct embodiment of life. The study of protein structure and function will directly clarify the mechanism of ...

Application of Edman Degradation N-Terminal Sequencing in Analytical Protein and Peptide Sequences

Image
The N-terminal amino acid sequence  of a protein is one of the key quality attributes of a biopharmaceutical. Edman degradation   N-terminal sequencing  is a routine method for analyzing this property. Analysis of the 15   amino acid sequence  of a N-terminal   by Edman degradation is usually a mandatory item in biopharmaceutical declaration s. It  is also an annual inspection project for many listed biopharmaceuticals). In scientific research, proteins with unknown or uncertain theoretical sequences can be used to provide critical information for confirmation using N-terminal sequencing. Therefore, this method has been widely used in scientific research and industry. W hat is its principle ? H ow to analyze the results, and what are the precautions for sample storage ? Principle It can be explained from the following two aspects. Edman degradation : Through the reaction between PITC (phenyl isothiocyanate) and α -amino group  o f the...

Using Phosphorylation Proteomics to Elucidate Signaling Pathways Activated by Opioid in the Brain

Image
Opioids are potent analgesics for  brain, but they have a series of side effects, including addiction. In a new study, researchers from the Max Planck Institute for Biochemistry (MPIB) in Germany , the University of Innsbruck in Austria, the University of Innsbruck ,  the University of the United States Temple University and the University of Copenhagen in Denmark developed a t ool to gain a deeper understanding of the brain's response to opioids.   They used mass spectrometry to determine chang es on protein phosphorylation   patterns  in five different regions of the brain , and correspond to the desired and undesirable therapeutic effects of opioids. These results provide a means to identify new drug targets and design a new class of painkillers with fewer side effects. The results of the study were published in the June 22, 2018 issue of Science, titled In vivo   brain GPCR signaling elucidated by phosphoproteomics . The cascade of signals that...

Research and Applications of Non-target and Targeted Metabolomics in Urine Samples

L ung cancer mortality ranks first among all malignancies w orldwide , and the survival rate is quite low. Currently, t here are two methods for diagnosis, low-dose spiral CT (LDCT) (high false positive rate and radiation damage)  and tumor tissue testing (gene mutation screening) . T here is no non-invasive clinical diagnosis mark  to  guide the treatment  for now . The  research paper ( Non-invasive urinary metabolomic profiling identifies diagnostic and prognostic markers in lung cancer , Cancer Research   IF=9.3215 ) introduced today aims to find biomarkers for lung cancer diagnosis by performing metabolomics tests on urine . There are three main reasons why this paper can get a good score, great samples, techniques and data analysis. Samples Used in the Experiment Pre-screening samples (1005 cases): samples collected in 10 years(1998~2007)  from 469 patients (urine  collected before the treatment) and  536 healthy people . ...
